Republic day is celebrated in India on 26th January every year, today we are celebrating as 73rd republic day. India got Independence from British in Aug 15 1947, but the first Indian constitute was formed in 26th January 1950 declaring India a sovereign state.
Indian drafting committee:
The first Indian drafting committee was formed in Aug 29 1947. The constitution was formed under the leadership of Dr B R Ambedkar to set Draft constitution for India. Initially the committee started with 389 members which was later reduced to 299 after India’s independence. The first session of this committee held on Dec 9, 1946 with 207 members of the committee, follow up meetings held on next two years, the final session held November 26, 1949, however the constitution came into action after two months on 26th January declaring it “The Republic day”.
Republic day celebration on 2022:
On this auspicious occasion the President hoist flag in New Delhi at Rajpath. The celebration starts with annual parade that begins at Rajpath, Delhi, and ends at the India Gate, following with many events honouring the heritage, culture and history of India and airshows by the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
Civilians and Soldiers are rewarded Padma Awards, Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra and Vir Chakra for their contribution to their nations by the President of India
